Swap a Full-width Header Image with a Logo in Twenty Fifteen WP Theme

Have you ever felt the urge to replace the big header image in the Twenty Fifteen WordPress theme with a small logo? If your answer is a heartfelt ‘Yes!’, this video is for you.

The Header Image in the Twenty Fifteen WordPress Theme

The Twenty Fifteen theme offers users the ability to add a full-width header image via the WordPress Customizer. The Header Image’s recommended dimensions are 954px x 1300px. On regular desktop screens, this Header Image covers the entire left sidebar. On tablet and mobile screens, it covers the header area at the top of the page.

If you’re building a child theme on top of the Twenty Fifteen theme and you’d like a small logo image for your design, this video is going to show you how to achieve this.

Keep in mind that the technique shown in this video is appropriate if you want to manage the Header Image via the Customize panel. If you’re simply modifying a Twenty Fifteen theme for yourself, the quickest and most economical way of adding a small logo image to your child theme is via CSS.
