Add A Portfolio Section To Your WordPress Theme In Five Minutes

Hi, welcome to a new WPThemeMakeover.com video tutorial. This is the first one of 2015 – it’s especially easy to follow and the end result is great. Learn how to add a Portfolio section to your WordPress theme using the Easy Portfolio plugin, freely available on the WordPress.org plugins repository.

Easy Portfolio Plugin Shortcodes

To display all portfolio items with a filter navigation, add this shortcode to your page:

[easy_portfolio]

To show latest portfolio items, add this shortcode to your page (the category filter is not available for this option):

[ep_latest_portfolio limit = 2 order="DESC"]

To show latest portfolio items in list order, add this shortcode to your page (the category filter is not available for this option):

[ep_latest_portfolio_list limit = 3 order="DESC"]

To show portfolio items from specific categories only, add this shortcode to your page:

[ep_portfolio_category slug="joomla,web-design" order="DESC"]

To Sum Up

The Easy Portfolio plugin is the right choice if you want to add a portfolio section to your WordPress website but you don’t want to mess with code, at least not too much. Your portfolio items will be filterable by category, viewable in a lightbox gallery, and accessible on their own dedicated page. All without creating a child theme, adding page templates, or styling the entire page.

What did you use to build your online portfolio? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
