New Fresh Cuisine Demo Website

My latest WordPress theme customization has led to the Fresh Cuisine website.

The final product is a website ideally suited for a small restaurant, pizza place, or bistro that would like to establish an inviting online presence.

Here are some key features of this website.

The Free Italian Restaurant WordPress Parent Theme

The parent theme is the free WordPress Italian Restaurant theme by Alexitsios from Ketchup Themes.

Italian Restaurant Free WordPress Theme

This theme has a free and a premium version. The latter has a few more features than the free one, but I found that I could easily add any extra features that I needed myself, therefore I stuck with the free version.

Besides, any features having to do with website functionality, is delivered using an appropriate plugin.

The Fresh Cuisine Website

The fresh cuisine website features customized Welcome page, Menu page, Contact page, and News page (the blog section).

Welcome Page

Let’s take a look at the Welcome page.

The background image spans the full width of the screen and is fixed: as you scroll down, the background remains still.

The page portrays a welcome section, a Dish Of The Day promotional widget, and a Reviews/Testimonials widget section. I added these widgetized areas to the front page so that users can easily add their own content by means of widgets.

The Reviews/Testimonials box is powered by the free CCR Client Testimonials plugin by CodexCoder.

At the bottom of every page there’s a widgetized footer area. I used this for all sorts of info that visitors could find useful as they browse the site, e.g., location info, opening hours, contact info, social icons, etc.

This website is responsive (it uses the awesome Twitter Bootstrap grid) adapting marvelously to any screen size, and uses retina-ready icons (by Font Awesome).

Menu Page

The menu is powered by the Easy Restaurant Menu Manager plugin by Sarah Tebo and Richard Royal from Sailabs. I used the free version of this plugin, which required a small modification in the way it displays floated elements. The premium version allows to display more than one menu on a single page, but for my demo site I think the free version does a good job.

Contact Page

The contact form in the Contact page is powered by the free Easy Contact Forms plugin, by WPPal.

News (Blog) Page

The News page displays news summaries in a grid. I preferred to leave out the sidebar throughout the website, including the News page. Only the single News Item page features a sidebar to aid the user to navigate back to the News page, single menu items, blog categories, or by using a search box to look for any item of interest.
